JSR172 is planning to add additional APIs to J2ME to allow mobile devices access to Web Services.
The mobile smaller-footprint versions of the JAXP and JAX-RPC APIs will be available this summer.

Microsoft’s own small business website hosting service apparently still does not have support for hosting .NET applications.
According to the article in the above link, Microsoft bCentral are still testing the technology and will add support for .NET applications once they find it is stable enough for use.
This doesn’t paint a particually good picture of the new technology if a Microsoft subsidiary is not yet prepared to offer hosting support for .NET applications because the consider the technology ‘not stable enough’…
